Find a certified radon contractor
The Vermont Department of Health points homeowners to two national certification directories to find a certified radon in air mitigation contractor.[1]
National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP)
A national certification program's directory of certified radon professionals, linked by the Health Department.[1][2]
For radon in water
For water treatment, the Health Department refers you to a Water Quality Association (WQA) certified treatment provider.[4]
Checking a contractor
From the EPA's guide for home buyers and sellers:[5]
- Ask whether the contractor holds a professional proficiency or certification credential. These programs usually give members a photo ID card showing their qualifications and expiration date.
- If in doubt, check with the credentialing organization.
- Get an estimate from one or more qualified mitigators before fixing.
You can also call the Vermont Radon Program at 800-439-8550 or email radon@vermont.gov with questions.[1]
