How Vermont Radon makes money

Vermont Radon is free to read. This page lists every way the site earns money, in plain words.

Our links to Airthings radon monitors are affiliate links. If you buy through one, Vermont Radon may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra.

Readers get 10% off with the code vtradon-10OFF at checkout. Airthings ships only within the US. Every affiliate link on the site is labeled “Affiliate link” and sits next to a link back to this page.

We earn nothing when you order a test kit from the Vermont Department of Health Laboratory. Those kits are always listed first, because the Health Department recommends a long-term test of 3 to 12 months.1

Contractors can pay for a featured listing ($39 a month or $390 a year). For every listing:

  • It is clearly labeled “Paid listing”, with a link to check the contractor’s certification yourself.
  • Only contractors with current NRPP or NRSB certification are listed. Those are the two directories the Health Department points homeowners to.1
  • The free NRPP and NRSB directory links will stay on the Find a certified contractor page.

What money never changes

  • Paid placements never change our guidance. What we say about testing, results and fixing radon comes from the Vermont Department of Health and the U.S. EPA, and each fact links to its source.
  • We don’t run ads or advertising scripts.
  • We don’t describe any monitor as “best” or “tested”, because we don’t test products.
