# Accessibility

Everyone should be able to read this site and use its tools. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.

## What we do

- Every page works with a keyboard and a screen reader, and has a skip link, one main heading and headings in order.
- Text and controls meet AA color contrast in both light and dark mode.
- Animation is off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Every map and drawing has a text description, and the town data is in plain tables.
- Pages work without JavaScript, and every guide has a plain-text Markdown version (add `index.md` to the page address).
- We check pages with automated accessibility tests whenever the site changes.

## Known limits

- Links to Health Department and EPA PDFs open documents we don’t control; their accessibility is up to the publisher.
- The town and county maps are pictures; the same numbers are in the tables below each map.

## Tell us about a problem

If something is hard to use, email [hello@vermontradon.com](mailto:hello@vermontradon.com) with the page address and what happened. We’ll reply and fix what we can.
